Late to the party because I'm that kid who just has to be lured in with candy and chocolate to get in the van in the form of this comm. I think that as long as I can look forward to discussions here, I'll still be able to keep my sanity. X3;;
I just watched the first episodelike a motherf*cking adult NO WAIT and all I can think about is this --
Otherwise, I have thoughts on the actual episode 8D!
Animation Quality (since it's the one that stood out to me most):
Typical "wait for the Blu-ray release for better quality". I'm watching this thing on a streaming site and I really wonder as to how this animation (if downloaded as-is in 720p) would look on an HDTV, or an HD monitor. Some frames were obviously done in a rush, they also skimped on giving Saori actual facial expressions to animate Sparklemars' sparkly leotard.
However! Snippets of hand-to-hand combat are actually quite nice and I look forward to more of that.
Music:
The OP, I'm sure I'll grow into, but it just starts out too weak for me. I'm used to my StS having energy at the get-go. The score in general however, I like very much. ♥
Quips on the Story-so-far:
Exploring the story of someone living the life of someone supernatural/superhuman/extraordinary as opposed to those lived by the 8-to-5 masses; or living the life of duty as opposed to the life of pleasure is nothing new but is always appealing, and the Saint Seiya fandom doesn't fall short on that. Lost Canvas tried to explore on that via the Gaiden series, and now Omega, I feel, will explore that a little more (what with quips on Saori wanting Kouga to live a normal life from the getgo).
I am in the camp of Seiya-is-still-in-a-coma btw.
Voice Acting:
Kouga's VA does a good job so far that I got goosebumps in that scene where Kougatwerp tries to get Saori back (until that shoujo transformation sequence came along and killed my Moment). I like hearing the age in Saori and Shaina's voice and it's refreshing to hear Furuya as Seiya again, as opposed to him playing Ribbons.
Mars... *shaking head* He has that voice where "will obviously get the crap out of him at the finale" kind. It's cartoonish, it's comical, it's stereotypical "baddie of theweek show" kind -- I can't take him seriously. HE GAVE ATHENA COOTIES EEEWWW.
Highlights:
(+) Shaina beating the crap out of Kouga and playing bodyguard extraordinaire to Saori;
(-) Each Mars appearance that just never fails to make me erupt in lols. Will he explode in glitters when he's defeated?
Will prolly watch ep2 within the week so as I can catch up with you guys. X3;;

Yeh, the animation quality can be a little irksome, especially compared with it's obvious predecessor (Casshern SINS). I just keep reminding myself that most shows seem to take that route these days -- and a lot of the original series animation frames are nothing to write home about either *wry grin ~*

Date: 2012-04-10 12:43 pm (UTC)With this, I agree!
I've purposely held off on checking out the cast list (save for the news that Furuya as Seiya again) since I didn't want to be starstruck before viewing, but as it stands, I'm really happy to know he's part of the cast.
At least it would have some form of immunity from bashing with the "80's nostalgia" mask? The first two seasons definitely had their UGH factor, but I always feel good seeing them. But. Yeah. Nostalgia (;^^)>

Date: 2012-04-10 12:56 pm (UTC)And I don't know, I've seen a fair few people (including an old housemate of mine) bash StS pretty righteously for being "ugly old-school animation". ;3 All I know is that you really see the horrors when you're trying to screencaps -- the first episode with Ohko springs readily to mind, especially ghastly when contrasted with the gorgeous second episode. They really weren't consistent at all X3

Date: 2012-04-10 03:21 pm (UTC)*grins ~~* So, yeh, I take irregularities in animation in stride.
Besides, even missing Seiya's wings in a brief battle moment in ep 01 is just an animation error and not something as wallbanging bad as, say, when Sunrise gave Hilling cleavage ;3

'''orz And I expect the error would def. be fixed once the discs are out.

Date: 2012-04-11 04:23 am (UTC)And I kept on imagining Izzard doing that AAAEEUUUUHH sound (however you can spell that onomatopoeia X3;; ) whenever Mars appears. 8D
"Saori-san! Saori-san! Mars is at the kitchen window!"
=AAAAAAAAAEEEEEEUUUUUUUUHH=
"Oh good, go play a round of 'ftupmk' outside, Kouga."

Date: 2012-04-11 11:59 am (UTC)This suddenly made me recall those days when we watched "Return of Jaffar": Iago the parrot's size kept on changing. In one scene he'd be a normal-sized parrot (barely 30cm tall), then in one scene he'd be as big an infant o_0 it made for LOLS XD;; Or a Carebear tummy symbol disappearing at times. *OT*
