A lot of dialogue again! Sounds like it's time for Exposition Theatre X3~~ -- which is good, because it should hopefully give setup for just what the hell is going on.

Observations while not knowing what I'm watching ~~

- Kouga looks even scrawnier today ...

- ... which means its a damn good thing the Palaestra caf doesn't look to skimp on meals

- ilu Souma don't ever change <3<3

- sorry Yuna, you're fucking annoying. your voice is annoying, your design is annoying, your goddamn fighting style makes me want to kick goddamn kittens, and you're already showing up everyone else in both Badass [tm] and Wangst [tm] and I don't even know what you're saying and when you top Kouga in wangst, that's disturbing.

- we're definitely not in Sanctuary! or at least not Sanctuary proper. Headmaster(?) natters at Kouga about Sanctuary though. ffffff need subtitles --

- Dorado Spear, token rival and idiot Swordfish Saint. I will never take you seriously, scrublet, not the least of which reason being that you remind me of a less dorky version of Rivalz from Geass.

- at least scrublets beating the shit out of each other still seems to be an accepted bit of the goings-on here at Hogwartsthe Palaestra ~

- Shiryuu basically confirmed as Ryuuho's father if the previews are any indication? damn you had a kid young, boy, if that second timeframe quote is accurate. also, I sense badness on the horizon for Ryuuho

I feel like I should be saying something else, but really, I said everything I had to say til subs and whatnot.

Kouga's loving flashbacks to Saori are still framed really weird and make me kinda uncomfy.

Pretty much, yeh. I just wanted to toss out initial impressions and all that (especially as I put the name to what I was thinking about Dorado some time while I was sleeping).

... And that makes two of us on that score, oh yes.

There is a way to do 'tender memories of beloved adoptive mother', but that is not the way they're doing it. Which is just EUGH.

CREEP FACTOR NINE THOUSAND CAP'N but seriously, whhhhhyyyy. And given the deranged things Saori used to do when she was younger -- which wasn't all that long ago, it really is even worse. Especially since the more we see, the less I think Kouga's ever really been off that damn island before now.

There is absolutely nothing right with the set-up. Not letting Kouga know she's Athena. Training him to be a Saint without explaining at all. Keeping him on a fucking island like a pet. Selfish-creepy-wrong all over the place. WTF, Saori?

I'll give the writers this much -- they've certainly kept her well in character, as re-reading the Sanctuary arc last week pointedly reminds me.

Point. Though I found her more tolerable in Poseidon... Though this could simply be in comparison to everyone else just being more batshit.

She also didn't really do anything in the Poseidon arc, aside from that bit in the beginning where she encountered Julian (and where her upbringing would presumably have her on better behaviour when surrounded by her "peers").

*finds her dealing with Kanon in the end more crawly than anything else*

With luck, in 200 years, Athena won't strike out so damned badly. Maybe get someone like 1500's Athena. That would be lovely.
